A Sunlit Celebration at Wensum Valley Golf Club
There are some weddings where you can feel just how much thought, love and personality has gone into every single detail and Leanne and James’ August wedding at Wensum Valley Golf Club in Norfolk was definitely one of them.
I first met Leanne and James at the Stunning Spring Wedding Fair at The Forum in Norwich in 2025, when they were already full of ideas for their big day. Fast forward to their beautiful sunny August wedding and they had managed to bring all those plans together while making sure their family and friends were at the heart of everything.
A wedding filled with personal touches
One of the most beautiful details was Leanne’s bouquet, created by Elizabeths the Florists in Norwich. Tucked amongst the flowers was a memorial locket containing a photograph of Leanne’s grandad, a little reminder that although some much-loved family members could not be there in person, they were very much part of the day.
During the ceremony, each of the bridesmaids placed a memorial rose on an empty chair reserved for loved ones who were no longer with them. It was such a simple and meaningful tribute.
Leanne’s sister was her Maid of Honour, surrounded by bridesmaids and a wonderful group of family and friends. And Leanne didn’t stop with the flowers when it came to making the wedding her own, she created so many of the details herself, from the newspaper-style orders of service through to the table plan and all the little finishing touches.
From a castle worthy dress to afternoon tea
Leanne looked absolutely incredible in her wedding dress from Camilla Brides, a dress that really did look fit for a castle!
Her bridal look was completed with makeup by Kerrie Moralee and hair by Christie Martin, while the incredible wedding cake was created by Mama Martin Bakes.
Rather than a traditional formal wedding breakfast, Leanne and James chose afternoon tea, which fitted their relaxed and sociable celebration perfectly. With so many family and friends together, there was plenty of time for chatting, laughter and celebrating.
And when the afternoon turned into evening, the dancing began!
Golden hour on the golf course
One of the great things about photographing a wedding at Wensum Valley Golf Club is having so much space and countryside around you for photographs.
As the sun began to drop, we headed out for some golden hour wedding photographs on the 18th hole. The warm August evening light was absolutely beautiful and gave us the chance to capture some quieter moments away from the celebrations.
Then came the sparklers as the light faded followed by an ice cream van making a very welcome appearance for the evening guests!
It was such a brilliant way to finish a wedding that was completely Leanne and James: personal, relaxed, full of family, packed with thoughtful details and, most importantly, full of fun.
