My Story
About Sonya: A Lifetime Behind the Lens in Norfolk
Born and raised in Norfolk, I’ve spent my life capturing the stories that define our region. I live here with my husband Paul, our son James, and Lola, the world’s craziest dog who completes our family picture. Whether it's a quiet walk in the woods, a roast dinner (always with Yorkshires!), or a glass of prosecco, I believe life’s best moments are the ones shared with the people we love.
From Breaking News to Your Big Day
My journey as a professional photographer began in 1995 when I earned my NCTJ Photojournalism qualification. After honing my craft on newspapers in Reading, Cambridge, and Bury St Edmunds, my dream came true in 2001, I returned home to work for the Eastern Daily Press (EDP) and Evening News.
Since 2008, I’ve brought that same passion for storytelling to documentary wedding photography in Norfolk and Suffolk. Having worked as a Senior Photographer for Newsquest and Archant, I specialise in a relaxed, unobtrusive style. My background in the fast-paced world of press photography means I’m an expert at anticipating those fleeting, "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" moments—from secret proposals to the quietest emotions of your ceremony.
Why Choose Me?
I simply love describing a story through my lens. Being invited to document your wedding across Norfolk, Suffolk and beyond is a privilege I never take for granted. I combine decades of technical expertise with a friendly, calming presence to ensure your gallery is as authentic as your day.
