Charlotte & Matthew's Beautiful Suffolk Wedding at Hungarian Hall
Some weddings feel extra special to photograph, and Charlotte and Matthew's wedding was definitely one of them.
Charlotte and I go back a long way. We both worked as photographers, Charlotte at the East Anglian Daily Times and me at the Eastern Daily Press before she left a couple of years ago to begin a new chapter working at Sizewell. So when Matthew first got in touch last year to ask if I would photograph his surprise proposal, I was absolutely delighted.
The proposal took place on Wells-next-the-Sea beach on a cold and windy day. Hidden away in the dunes, I was nervously waiting and hoping I wouldn't miss the moment. Thankfully, everything went perfectly as Matthew got down on one knee and asked Charlotte to marry him. It was such a lovely moment to witness and capture.
Fast forward to Saturday 23rd March, and I was once again behind the camera, this time photographing their wedding day. Despite it being early spring, we were treated to glorious sunshine and unusually warm temperatures from start to finish.
Charlotte spent the morning getting ready at Lily's Lodge near Woodbridge with her bridesmaids – her sister Tessa and friends Lucie and Megan. Joining them were Charlotte's parents, Jacky and John, making for a relaxed and fun start to the day.
The ceremony took place at St Mary's Church in Martlesham, with Charlotte arriving in style alongside her dad in a beautiful vintage Mercedes. Waiting at the altar was Matthew, supported by his best friend Jack as best man and groomsmen George and Joshua.
After the ceremony, everyone made their way to Hungarian Hall for a truly stunning wedding reception. The venue looked incredible in the sunshine, and guests were able to enjoy the beautiful grounds throughout the afternoon.
As the day drew to a close, we were treated to the most gorgeous golden-hour light, perfect for some relaxed portraits of the newlyweds. The celebrations finished with a sparkler runway, creating a magical end to an unforgettable day.
It was a real privilege to be part of Charlotte and Matthew's journey, from that windswept proposal on the Norfolk coast to their beautiful Suffolk wedding day. Congratulations to you both and thank you for trusting me to capture such special memories.
