Emma and Paul’s wedding at The Food Museum in Stowmarket was the perfect combination of relaxed, romantic and wonderfully personal. From a vintage wedding bus journey with the bridesmaids to an outdoor ceremony, a grazing feast, incredible countryside photo opportunities and a fairytale wedding cake, their August wedding was full of beautiful details and lots of fun.

As a Suffolk wedding photographer, I love photographing weddings at venues that offer plenty of variety, and The Food Museum in Stowmarket certainly delivered. With historic buildings, countryside, farm areas, a mill, chapel and beautiful grounds, we were absolutely spoilt for choice when it came to wedding photography locations.

Emma arrives in style

The day started with Emma and her bridesmaids travelling to The Food Museum in a beautiful vintage omnibus from Vintage Dream Wedding Cars. It was such a lovely way to begin the celebrations, and there was a real sense of excitement as they made their way to the museum where Paul was waiting.

Emma and Paul chose a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony, surrounded by their family and friends. With the warm August sunshine and the gorgeous Suffolk countryside around them, it was a wonderfully relaxed setting for them to say “I do.”

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed Pimms while Emma and Paul took a little time to enjoy their newly married status and of course, we headed off to explore the grounds for their wedding photographs.

Exploring The Food Museum for wedding photographs

One of the things I love about photographing a Food Museum wedding is just how much variety there is within the grounds.

We jumped aboard a golf buggy and headed off to explore, stopping at some of the many amazing backdrops along the way. From the farm area and historic mill to the chapel and surrounding countryside, there were beautiful photo opportunities around almost every corner.

It meant we could create a real mixture of photographs for Emma and Paul – some romantic portraits, some relaxed and natural moments, and plenty of images that tell the story of their wedding day and the wonderful setting they had chosen.

For couples looking for a wedding venue in Stowmarket or Suffolk, The Food Museum is a fantastic location for photography because there is so much to work with. You certainly aren't limited to one backdrop!

A relaxed wedding breakfast

Back at the marquee, guests enjoyed a fabulous grazing boat for the wedding breakfast. It fitted the relaxed feel of the day perfectly and gave everyone plenty of time to eat, chat and enjoy being together.

The warm weather continued throughout the day, making it feel very much like a classic English summer wedding.

Later, everyone made their way down to the newly renovated barn for the evening reception, where more guests joined the celebrations.

Personal wedding details with a nod to home

Emma and Paul had put so much thought into the little details of their wedding day.

Guests were treated to Blackpool Rock and London Dry Gin favours, a lovely personal touch representing the places where Emma and Paul grew up.

There was also an ice cream van serving treats – always a winner at a summer wedding!

But one of the biggest talking points was undoubtedly the wedding cake.

A fairytale wedding cake

The cake from Fantasy Fancies looked as though it had stepped straight out of a fairytale.

Covered in whimsical flowers, toadstools and tiny creatures, it was incredibly detailed and completely suited the magical feel of the day. It really did take centre stage and was one of those wedding details that guests couldn't help but admire.

Dancing into the evening

As the sun began to disappear after another wonderfully warm day, the party really got started.

The dance floor filled up and Emma and Paul and their guests danced the evening away to ABBA, Tina Turner and plenty of other favourites.

The combination of the beautiful barn, warm summer evening and everyone letting their hair down made for some brilliant photographs. These are often some of my favourite moments of a wedding, when all the formalities are over and everyone is simply enjoying themselves.
